I found Pauline
Middleton's missing friends and
put her in touch with them.Alas
her uncle Gevorg and his wife
Armik passed away few years ago.
However her friend Aida is
living in Tehran and her
daughter in Yerevan.
|
|
Hi Razmik
My father,
Harry Middleton (British) was in
Abadan 1939 – 61, and again in
1980. He built and ran the
turbines for the Power Station
for the refinery. My mother is
Phyllis Middleton. I was named
after one of their good friends,
Armenians who were in Abadan for
many, many years. We lost touch
after the Shah left Iran.
They gave
me my middle name, Armick. I
only knew then as Uncle Catchy,
or Katchy, and Aunty Armick.
Their last name was Katchatorian
(Catchatorian), but had been
Gazacarnian (sp?) before they
left Armenia. They had a niece
called Zeda (Sada?)Gazacarnian
or Katchatorian, who went to
school in England, also a
daughter who was a professional
pianist, who studied in London,
and who stayed for holidays with
my grandparents in Essex,
England.
Is there
any way I can trace these good
friends? My father is now 93 and
my mother is 88 and I would love
to be able to tell them that we
have traced Armick and Catchy’s
family.
My parents
live in England. I live with my
husband in New Orleans, LA, USA.
My maiden name was Pauline
Armick Middleton, now Pauline
Armick Brown.
Many
thanks for your time.

Thank you
for creating Adab website, It
has given me countless hours of
pleasure remembering good old
days. I am sure many others
would agree with me that living
in Abadan, attending our school
and friendships we formed then
are very precious and unique.
This website is also a unique
historical record of our time in
Abadan.
My school
friend Vacheh Hagnzarian, some
years ago, was tasked to write
and collate a history of
Armenians in Abadan. He
collected countless pictures
from Abadanis, copies of
official documents from Vank in
Isfahan and documented oral
memories of number of people.
I hope he managed to complete
this vast task.
Keep up
the excellent work that you
started and once again thank you
for your efforts in creating
this website.
If you speak to Levik
Yeghiazarian or Denis Badal
please give them my regards.
Denis used to live opposite our
house and Levik is related
through my uncle. By the way
Levik does look like spitting
image of his father.
My full name is Armen
Khachaturian just in case guys
want to know who I am.
To start
of there are some school
pictures. Later on I will send
you some pictures from
ceremonies in our school of 2500
years of Persian monarchy and Ex
Shahs inauguration ceremonies.

I haven't posted anything yet so
don't worry about your mailbox being
full.
It is just me being lazy. I am going
to put as much information as I can
with every picture and also names
that I can remember.
It is very valuable service that you
have started to capture a unique
time and lifestyle that we all had
in Abadan.
Thank you for creation of this site
it is full of wonderfull memories.

when I lost contact. If anyone knows
where Raffi's siblings are,

Dear Abadan
Congratulations, it is a very good
informative site. However, I like
to know more about history of Adab
Armenian School, Armenian church
and history of Armenian communities
in Abadan or Khuzestan. Please
let me know if there are any kind of
publications or sites.
By the way , I
suggest include your organization
information on Facebook, which is a
very popular site for communication
these days. Please check Facebook

Armenian groups on Facebook,
Thank you for
your cooperation in advance.

How are you? and your family? Well

I just
happened to Google an old buddy of
mine yesterday - Sako Badalian - and
came across the Abadan website.
I just want to let you know that
you have done a great job and it
brought back old memories. I do keep
in touch with my Armenian friends in
U.S. and other countries,
unfortunately, there are about 4
Armenian families in Tulsa and mine
is the only one from Iran.
The last time
I was in Abadan was August of 1976
when I went back to Iran for 3 weeks
after graduation. Thanks to you all
I was able to connect with Sako.
Well, thanks again. Hopefully, next
time that I am in L.A. may coincide
with one of your gatherings and I'll
get to visit some old friends.
